The Chinese Economists Society (CES) successfully held a reception with a business meeting during the AEA Annual conference on January 4, 2025, at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis, Yerba Buena Salon 1 & 2 in San Francisco, California. This event attracted more than 200 attendees, a memorable gathering of CES members and friends. The meeting showcased both in-person and online presentations by representatives from 8 distinguished universities wishing to offer opportunities to emerging scholars and talents with their wide variety of programs.


The CES institutional participating members includes:


In-person:

1)      Beijing University, School of Economics;

2)      Chongqing University, School of Economics and Business Administration;

3)      Guangdong University of Technology, School of Economics;

4)      Hefei University of Technology, School of Economics;

5)      Wuhan University, Economics and Management School


Online:

1)      Fudan University, School of Economics;

2)      Liaoning University, Division of Economics;

3)      South China University of Technology, School of Economics and Finance


 

 

Board Directors Dr. Xi Yang (University of North Texas), Dr. Ben Zou (Purdue University), and Dr. Xingfei Liu (University of Alberta) efficiently organized and hosted the Business Meeting and the Reception. CES president, Dr. Feng Lu (University of Toronto), made a series of announcements which include the 2025 CES North America Conference at University of Michigan on March 22-23, 2025; CES Deans’ Forum at Central University of Finance and Economics on July3, 2025; CES Presidents’ Forum at Sun Yat-sen University on July 5, 2025; 2025 CES China Conference at Sun Yat-sen University on July 6-7, 2025 with Special CES 40th Anniversary Celebration; and the CES Taiwan Visit.


In addition, CES president Dr. Feng Lu introduced the audience to three featured programs designed to support junior scholars in the field of economics, finance and management as well as to facilitate short-term teaching opportunities for field specialists. The event was concluded with a after-reception dinner, which was supported by our institutional member representatives, previous CES president Dr. Carl Lin, current CES president Dr. Feng Lu, elected CES president Dr. Kaiji Chen, as well as CES Board Directors and friends.

This meeting highlighted CES’s dedication to enhancing the academic success and professional development of its members and enlarging the network of economists connected to China.
