The Application for the CES Fellowship

Program Description:

The CES Fellowship program is designed to provide online collaborative learning experience for scholars and postdocs. It offers tailored professional training based on the fellows’ academic or career interests, especially in the field of economics and business.  The program gives a researcher the opportunity to develop technical skills in cutting-edge technologies, interdisciplinary research networks as well as leadership abilities. Those outstanding researchers will be recommended to apply for onsite visiting scholar positions at some top research universities in the North America.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in business meetings organized by the CES Lab.
  • Actively involve in the activities organized by the CES Lab.
  • Collaborate with other Lab members on at least one academic paper per visiting term.
  • Contribute to teaching/mentoring programs affiliated with the CES Lab.
  • Contribute to case studies organized with the CES Lab.
  • Facilitate collaboration between the CES Lab and other interested academic institutions or communities.
  • Provide leadership by bringing in research ideas and leading research projects.
  • Present at least once per year in seminar/forum/webinar/symposium events organized by the CES Lab.

Qualifications:

  • Currently a faculty member or postdoc in a college/university.
  • Strong interest in business, economic, and social research, big data analysis, workflow technology, AI models, as well as their applications across different fields.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis tools (such as SAS and STATA) and programming languages (such as Python) is desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to contribute to research, modeling, and AI model implementation activities.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey ideas and contribute to team discussions (The program’s working language is English).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage time efficiently, and meet timelines.
  • Strong passion for acquiring new skills and knowledge in the realm of business, economic, and social analysis and models.
  • Passion for working in a team with diverse backgrounds and different levels of technical skills.

Selection Criteria:

  • Self-motivation on economic and business research.
  • Proven records in academic research.
  • Recommendation by two faculty members.

Appointment:

The appointment is valid for one term (six months or one year) with renewal upon end-of-term evaluation. Applicants should propose a research plan at the beginning of each term and submit a final report at the end of each term for evaluation.

  • You understand that this will be non-stipend.
  • Your planned start and end dates, usually cover 6-12 months, can change later.
  • Give a few examples of project tasks you could be conducting.
  • Mention some benefits to your academic development that you expect from this experience.
  • You agree to submit a report and presentation at the end of your term, summarizing your accomplishments.
