The School of Economics is one of the first schools established since CUFE adopted the school system. It is the school with the most national key disciplines, housing 4 national-level key disciplines and 2 Beijing municipal key disciplines. The school offers both theoretical and applied economics as first-level disciplines and has degree programs for bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees, as well as postdoctoral research stations, with a comprehensive talent cultivation system. In the fourth round of subject assessments released by the Ministry of Education, the applied economics program ranked jointly first alongside Peking University and Renmin University of China, while theoretical economics ranked jointly first among financial and economic universities, showing significant achievements in discipline construction.
The school has a strong faculty, with 49 national high-level talents, including 11 in national high-level talent programs, 7 experts with special allowances from the State Council, 1 National Outstanding Teacher, and 5 Exemplary Individual Pacesetter of Beijing Teachers' Ethics. Faculty members have received major awards, including the Sun Yefang Economics Award and the First Prize in Beijing Philosophy and Social Sciences. The school has made outstanding contributions in research, having hosted over 100 projects, including major projects funded by the National Social Science Fund.
The school has made remarkable achievements in talent cultivation, with undergraduate programs in Economics and National Economic Management both being selected as national first-class programs. The base for cultivating top-notch students in economics in the digital economy era is one of the first base under the Ministry of Education's 'Top-Notch Student Cultivation Plan 2.0'. The school also stands out in party-building, having been recognized as a 'National Model Party Work Department' by the Ministry of Education, and has received other prestigious awards, including Beijing's 'Advanced Party Organization in Universities' and the first 'Double Leader' Teachers Party Branch Secretary Workshop in national universities.
